大家都知道这个词是“烤”的意思，其实它还有另一个用法：
To roast someone: 批评某人
把某人放在舆论的烤架上，用语言猛烈地炙烤，引申为严厉批评的意思：
Putting them on the spot, putting all the heat on them, to criticize them
另外也可以表达带有挖苦、调侃的批评，这就和中文里的“吐槽”非常类似了，近几年中国大火的综艺节目《吐槽大会》的英文名就叫做《Roast》，它的原版是美国知名脱口秀《Comedy Central Roast》(喜剧中心吐槽大会)，专门请明星来节目上吐槽：

吐槽者是 Roaster，如果是“被吐槽”用动词 get：
To get roasted: 被吐槽
I got roasted. 我被吐槽了。
在北美的婚礼上，为了活跃气氛，通常新郎都会被吐槽一下：
The groom gets roasted by the best man. 新郎被伴郎吐槽了。

Complain 这个词你一定学过，它和吐槽类似，用来表示内心的不满：
To complain about something to someone: 和某人抱怨某事
比如你去了一家很糟糕的餐厅：
Complaining about the bad service… 抱怨服务差…
Complaining about the food… 抱怨食物不好…
也有人不管遇到什么事都要吐槽：
Someone is always complaining. 某人总是在吐槽。
Someone loves to complain. 某人很爱吐槽。
爱抱怨的人称为：
A complainer
具体接某件抱怨的事情，用介词 about：
He is always complaining about life. 他总是在抱怨生活。
其实真正在 complain 的时候，不一定会用到 complain 这个词，例如想和餐厅经理投诉、吐槽，通常直接用 speak：
I'd like to speak to the manager. 我想和经理谈谈(投诉) 。
经理来了之后，向他指出自己要吐槽的东西，通常会用 complain 的名词形式：
